Food labels that show you how far you have to walk to burn off the calories. Nice. There’s incentive to cook your own food!
Now that’s what I call a trip to the grocery store! That’s some good stuff right there. #eatclean

NYTimes: Drink Ingredient Gets a Look
mmm I love me some Brominated Vegetable Oil after a good hard workout.
Besides the plethora of artificial coloring in these sports drinks, now it turns out Gatorade bought in the US contains an ingredient that is banned in the EU.
Never fear, JoJo’s here…check out my post on homemade gatorade. It’s super easy, all natural, and tastes like lemon-lime because it’s made with LEMONS and LIMES. Amazing!

Why you should include turmeric into your healthy diet.
If you have been exercising seriously for a while you might have noticed that a few weeks in you lose that fire in your workouts or you find you have hit a plateau in your progress. If this is you, you might want to look at enhancing your recovery.
In this article written by Nutritionist Kimberly Taylor she will tell us about how turmeric can support your bodies natural recovery functions.
“The secret to achieving high-level conditioning is effective recovery and this is exactly where turmeric excels, reducing recovery time and increasing peak performance and endurance.
Poor recovery after exercise includes extensive muscle and joint pain, lethargy, sleep disturbances, high risk of injury and possible nausea and exhaustion. It typically lasts for 2-3 days and reduces athletes’ ability for peak performance and obtaining a high-level condition.
Studies have shown turmeric enhances muscle after exertion leading to faster restoration of the muscle tissue. This is due to the curcumin, the active constituent in turmeric, acting directly on new muscle cells to increase growth and function. The affects of curcumin on muscle tissue were rapid with noticeable stimulation of muscle cell regeneration after just a few days.”
In clinical experience, the use of turmeric in a treatment plan for peak performance, endurance and optimum recovery post-exercise has worked successfully in India for years”

salmon = superfood! One 4oz serving provides your daily dose of omega-3s. I bought 2 lbs at whole foods and portioned it up into 8 pieces, which should work out to about 4oz each. Popped into ziplocs for easy storing in the fridge until I get a chance to cook them. Freezing raw fish is doable but you have to really vacuum seal it or else it will be ruined by freezer burn. Best to cook it all up, it will last 3-4 days in the fridge that way, or you can freeze it AFTER cooking it. Here’s a neat guide that shows you food storage guidelines for all types of food:
super cute! can someone make these for me though, because that is way too many steps for cookies.

It’s squash season! Instead of butternut squash soup, I decided to try something different—pasta with roasted butternut squash, shallots, pancetta, and lots of freshly grated pecorino romano. It. was. awesome. Martha Stewart gets the credit, check out the full recipe here.
